The main features of plastic materials used in the manufacturing of FL Medical laboratory products are described right below:

POLYPROPYLENE (PP)
This plastic material belongs to the group of polyolefin resins. It is not toxic and conforms to pharmacopoeia for parenteral applications and to the FDA. It is uncontaminated and unbreakable, slightly opaque, light with excellent chemical and mechanical resistance, whilst being flexible. Resistant to damp, solvents, oils and heat up to a temperature of 120°C. Polypropylene (PP) can be subdivided into the following three types: PP homopolymer: Rigid and quite transparent. PP copolymer random: Less rigid but more transparent than PP homopolymer. PP copolymer: Rigid like PP copolymer random but opaque. It presents features suitable for manufacturing disposable labware.

POLYETHYLENE (PE)
This plastic material also belongs to the group of polyolefin resins, which means it has the same technical and mechanical features as polypropylene. Polyethylene (PE) can be divided into the following three types: LDPE: Soft and transparent. LLDPE: Soft and transparent, but glossier and more resistant than LDPE. HDPE: Rigid and opaque.

POLYSTYRENE (PS)
This plastic material belongs to the group of styrene resins. It has considerable rigidity, is completely transparent with elevated mechanical and processing properties. Thanks to these features, it has a vast application field and its also suitable for disposable labware.. The most commonly used polymer in this group for test tubes and specimen containers is CRYSTAL POLYSTYRENE (PS-GP), which is a very rigid and transparent product, ideal therefore for manufacturing medical and laboratory products.

POLYMETHYLMETHACRYLATE (PMMA)
This plastic material belongs to the group of acrylic resins. Its is more technically suitable for manufacturing laboratory products, because it is very rigid, transparent with excellent mechanical resistance. It is the plastic material with features most similar to those of glass.
