Order of draw: a procedure that makes the difference

In the blood collection process it is of fundamental importance to follow the correct sequence of use of the tubes. This avoids contamination between additives, protects the integrity of the sample and helps to ensure more reliable results.
Vacumed® supports operators by defining a standardized filling order, clear and compliant with international recommendations.

order of draw: a procedure that makes the difference

A protocol to follow to ensure reliability

Vacumed® provides concrete support to operators in the diagnostic field through the indication of a precise order for the use of the tubes during blood collection. Complying with this order is not only a procedural matter, but a fundamental safety measure to avoid contaminations that could compromise the integrity of the sample.
An incorrect order can significantly affect the haematochemical parameters, reduce the quality of the result and lead to the need to repeat the analysis. The adoption of a standardized practice, on the other hand, increases the reliability of the data obtained and contributes to improving the overall diagnostic efficiency.

The Vacumed® recommended order for accurate results

Applying the recommended fill order allows you to obtain more stable samples, prevent analytical interference and ensure consistency of results.

Here is the correct order to follow:

  1. Blood culture tube or bottle
  2. Sodium citrate tube
  3. Serum tubes, including those with clot activator and gels
  4. Heparin tube with or without gel
  5. EDTA tube with or without gel separator
  6. Glycolytic inhibitor tube with potassium fluoride

This sequence is designed to preserve sample quality throughout the pre-analytical phase, facilitating a safer, more traceable and reliable workflow.
